In 1971-72, the primary mission of BRWTA was not only to provide an opportunity for women to play tennis competitively, but to represent and work for women’s interests in Baton Rouge tennis affairs and activities.  This mission continues today with almost 400 members.

 

BRWTA members enjoy nine monthly Monday Fun Tournaments followed by a relaxed social luncheon.  Our membership year is from August 1st thru July 31st. The tournaments are usually held on the second Monday of each Month unless there is a school holiday, then it is on the third Monday.  There are no tournaments in January, June or July.  The tournaments are a relaxed, fun, yet competitive round robin format organized by level (2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0).  A sample court assignment page can be viewed here.    A minimum of three sets are played.  The luncheons are held at Oak Lodge off of Sherwood Forest Blvd.  Prizes are awarded to the 1st and 2nd place winners in each group.
